As Southeast Asian destinations actively seek to diversify their international visitors and capture high-growth market segments, Vietnam is taking strategic steps toward developing its Muslim-friendly tourism. With global Muslim international travel expenditure projected to reach USD 310 billion across 262 million arrivals by 2030, central Vietnam’s cultural and coastal destinations—Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue—are moving proactively to understand and accommodate Muslim travelers.
To guide local authorities, hospitality operators, and trade stakeholders, CrescentRating, the global authority on Halal-friendly travel, was invited to deliver keynote insights across a two-part international conference series held in Da Nang on 27 October 2026 and Hue on 29 October 2026.
Organized under the academic and research auspices of the Institute for South Asian, West Asian and African Studies (ISAWAAS) under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), alongside regional government bodies, the conferences serve as a milestone initiative to evaluate international best practices and build a competitive Muslim-friendly ecosystem in central Vietnam.
About the Two-Day International Conference Series
The conference series is structured across two gatherings in Central Vietnam. With over 200 participants, including Islamic ambassadors to Vietnam, senior officials from Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue People’s Committee, and more, the conference series will examine both the international prospects and the practical realities of Halal tourism development in the two areas.
Sharing Valuable Insights
Representing CrescentRating, Founder & CEO Fazal Bahardeen will address both conferences as a featured international speaker. Drawing on CrescentRating’s global research and benchmarking frameworks, his sessions will share international experiences and provide strategic guidance on developing faith-conscious tourism, helping local authorities and business leaders in Da Nang and Hue understand traveler expectations, bridge infrastructure gaps, and unlock the commercial potential of the Muslim travel market.
Advancing Central Vietnam’s Tourism Horizon
The international conferences in Da Nang and Hue mark a significant turning point in Vietnam’s tourism strategy. By opening structured dialogues with Islamic diplomatic missions, academic institutions, and global industry authorities, Vietnam is laying the groundwork to become an inclusive, culturally aware destination capable of welcoming faith-conscious travelers with verified assurance, dignity, and world-class hospitality.
