How Muslim-Friendly Is Your Establishment? Find Out with CrescentRating’s Free Self-Assessment

With the global Muslim travel market heading toward 262 million international arrivals and USD 310 billion in expenditure by 2030, tourism and hospitality operators should be asking themselves a fundamental question: How Muslim-friendly is our property right now?

Answering that question no longer requires complicated consultations or guesswork. CrescentRating has launched a free, interactive Muslim-Friendly Self-Assessment tool, designed to help establishments evaluate their existing services and facilities quickly and accurately.

By answering a short and dynamic questionnaire about what you already have in place, you can see your indicative rating on the globally recognized CrescentRating scale in about two minutes—along with the precise requirements needed to reach the next tier.

Zero Barriers: Fast, Objective, and Obligation-Free

The self-assessment tool is built for maximum ease and immediate clarity:

  • No Account, No Email, No Obligation: Access results instantly on-screen without mandatory forms, gated sign-ups, or sales calls.

  • Scored Against Current Published Standards: Uses the identical scoring engine that evaluates formal rating applications, eliminating subjective impressions.

  • Dynamic & Adaptive Logic: Questions adjust in real time based on previous answers, only asking what can actively influence your rating.

  • Privacy by Design: Completed assessments are aggregated anonymously to help refine industry guidance; no personal or property-identifying information is retained unless requested.

Multi-Sector Applicability: Benchmarked Against Global Standards

While currently live for accommodation providers scored directly against the CrescentRating Standard for Hotels 2026, the accreditation ecosystem spans 24 categories across the wider visitor economy, including:

  • Hotels & Resorts (Boutique, city-center, and luxury chains)

  • MICE & Event Venues (Convention centers and meeting facilities)

  • Shopping Malls & Lifestyle Centers

  • Visitor Attractions & Theme Parks

  • Airport Terminals & Premium Lounges

  • Tour Operators, Activities, and Transport Providers

The Seven-Scale Rating Framework

Hotels and accommodations are evaluated across a seven-tier hierarchy where Level 1 represents the foundation baseline and Level 7 signifies the highest level of dedicated faith-based hospitality. Under the CrescentRating standard, a property holds the highest level whose requirements it meets in full without partial credit or averaged scores, meaning a single unmet requirement holds a property at the tier below.

Level 1 (The Foundation)

At this level, the property demonstrates core awareness where frontline staff understand Muslim guest needs and the front desk can provide the local Qiblah prayer direction upon request—a basic need assumed by every level above it.

Level 2 (Neighbourhood Orientation)

Establishments in this level build on their level by actively guiding visitors through their local surroundings, ensuring staff can direct guests to nearby mosques and Halal dining options.

Level 3 (Property Provision)

Moving into Level 3, the property begins providing for faith needs on-site through an assured Halal breakfast corner alongside marked Qiblah directions in guestrooms on at least one floor.

Level 4 (Halal Kitchen and Washrooms)

In this level, the establishments elevate their physical compliance, requiring certified Halal food preparation in the kitchen, dedicated water facilities (such as bidets or hand sprayers) in guestroom washrooms on at least one floor, and clear separation of non-Halal items.

Level 5 (Effortless Comfort)

Reaching Level 5 creates an environment where a Muslim guest can stay comfortably without having to plan around their faith, supported by certified Halal dining, available prayer rugs, and dedicated Ramadan catering services upon request.

Level 6 (Comprehensively Muslim-Friendly)

This level requires that all food and beverage across the property be certified Halal, supported by separate prayer rooms for men and women, universal water amenities in all guestrooms, and the absence of non-permissible activities on the premises.

Level 7 (Dedicated Halal Hospitality)

Finally, the Level 7 represents the full standard achieved by a select group of global properties, integrating comprehensive gender-separated access to wellness, gym, and recreational facilities, and operating entirely around the lifestyle needs of Muslim travelers.

How It Works: Assess, Understand, and Accredit

The self-assessment serves as the first step in a clear, three-stage diagnostic journey:

  1. Assess: Complete the two-minute questionnaire detailing your guestrooms, F&B, prayer spaces, and staff capabilities.

  2. Understand: Receive an instant breakdown of your indicative level. Gaps are clearly listed and sorted by the operational effort required to resolve them, turning vague assumptions into an actionable roadmap.

  3. Accredit: Engage CrescentRating’s technical team to close identified gaps, complete a formal on-site or virtual audit, and earn official accreditation and member directory placement.

Take the First Step Toward Destination Readiness

Transitioning toward inclusive hospitality begins with objective self-awareness. CrescentRating’s free self-assessment tool provides the data-backed baseline hospitality leaders need to budget upgrades accurately, reassure travel planners, and welcome the next wave of global Muslim travelers with certified confidence.
