What the audit covers

What we assess at your hotel.

Every hotel is audited against the CrescentRating Standard for Hotels 2026 (CRS-HTL:2026). Each level on the scale sets how much of this provision must be in place, so a higher Crescent Rating means more of it is.

Muslim-friendly Rating Self Diagnostic Assistant

Do the short self-assessment first, if you would like to see where your establishment stands before you apply.

Answer a short set of questions about what your property already offers. In about two minutes you will see the level the CrescentRating Standards indicate, and the specific requirements standing between you and the next one.

  • No account, no email address, no obligation
  • Scored against the current published standard
  • Every gap named, and what each one takes
Begin the self-assessment
  1. 01

    Assess

Answer what applies to your property. The questions adapt, so you are only asked what can still change the result.

  2. 02

    Understand

See the indicative level, and the requirements between you and the next one — sorted by how much work each represents.

  3. 03

    Accredit

Bring the result to our team, or begin a formal application. That is where this page picks the process back up.

The result is indicative and based on unverified self-declared information. It is not a Crescent Rating. A Crescent Rating is issued only after formal assessment by CrescentRating, which may include an audit.

Questions

Before you apply.

Anything not answered here, ask the rating team.

How is the annual fee worked out?

By plan and by the number of rooms. Each property pays one annual fee from the rate card on this page: USD 300 to USD 900 on Basic and USD 500 to USD 1,500 on Enhanced, depending on its size.

What is the difference between Basic and Enhanced?

Enhanced includes everything in Basic, and adds: Online training for staff (2 staff); 6-months marketing promotions (IG, FB, X, LinkedIn); Onboarding Consultation Call (60-min strategy session).

Is there a discount for hotel groups?

Yes: 10% off for 5 or more properties and 20% off for 15 or more properties. Tell the rating team which properties the group covers.

What does renewal cost?

Renewals are priced 15% below the rate card.

Does all of our food and beverage have to be Halal?

No. Halal food provision is graded in steps — from Halal breakfast items assured by the hotel, up to all food and beverage certified Halal — and serving non-Halal food or alcohol in a separate area is one of the criteria assessed.

Does a Crescent Rating endorse the hotel as a whole?

No. The assessment covers the availability and quality of Muslim-specific facilities and services only, such as prayer facilities and Halal food. It is not an endorsement of the establishment beyond them.

Can we see where we would land before applying?

Yes. The free self-assessment takes about two minutes, asks for no account or email address, and shows the level the standard indicates. The result is indicative and is not a Crescent Rating.

How do we apply?

Register the hotel online and complete the application. We then audit the property and accredit it at the level the standard supports, and the annual fee falls due once the level is settled.

How long does accreditation take?

Typically two to three weeks from application to accreditation, depending mostly on how complete the application is and how soon the audit can be scheduled.

How long is a Crescent Rating valid?

A Crescent Rating is valid for one year, and is renewed annually.

Can we move up a level before renewal?

Yes. Ask the rating team for a reassessment once the requirements holding your level down are in place. A reassessment carries a fee, based on what needs to be re-evaluated.

Disclaimer. The scope of our evaluation is strictly limited to the availability and quality of Muslim-specific facilities and services offered by the establishments. This includes, but is not limited to, prayer rooms, Halal food options, ablution facilities, and any other amenities designed to cater to the needs of Muslim individuals. Our assessment does not extend to, nor should it be interpreted as, an endorsement or approval of the establishment's broader perspectives or philosophies. Our focus is exclusively on the facilities provided to Muslim travelers, ensuring they can observe their religious duties and preferences comfortably within the establishment's premises.
