HalalTrip is partnering with celebrity chefs across various destinations to launch unique Halal culinary tours for food and travel enthusiasts.
With Muslim visitors expected to spend approximately USD $28 billion on food alone by 2017, HalalTrip has created bespoke tours to allow participants to fully immerse themselves into the food culture of the destination.
The debut tour will be officially launched in Singapore next month with celebrity chef Mel Dean called ‘Cook, Dine & Explore in Singapore”.
The 3-day complete food experience tour will include cooking and tasting a variety of authentic Singaporean and international dishes while exploring the city.
HalalTrip hopes to launch two tours this year in Singapore with plans to create similar packages across Asia Pacific and Middle East over the next 12 months with local renowned chefs.
As part of the tour Chef Mel Dean will accompany the participants to some of Singapore’s best Halal restaurants, hawker centres and cafes. The tour will also include sourcing fresh ingredients followed by a hands-on experience in cooking local and fusion dishes with the chef.

The first three-day getaway will commence in Singapore from November 11 to 13 while the second tour will be from December 2 to 4. Dates for subsequent tours will be announced at a later date. The first tour will be screened as a three-part webisode on MODESTyle TV’s online channel.
Chef Mel Dean has been in the food and beverage industry since 1993. He is one of the pioneers in the early 90’s of unique eclectic Halal Asian, fusion and international cuisines and has catered to a wide range of audience from corporate, celebrities, ministers to royalties.
The MasterCard-CrescentRating Muslim Travel Shopping Index (MTSI) 2015, the most comprehensive research that has been released on the behaviour of shopping and dining by Muslim travelers, revealed that the dining expenditure of Muslim travelers amounted to $26.1 billion and represented 18% of their total travel expenditure.
The Muslim travel market is expected to reach 168 million visitors by 2020 with a total expenditure exceeding US$220 billion.
