Singapore, December 11, 2024 — Taipei City has certified 30 businesses in 2024. Spearheaded by the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government (TPEDOIT), this initiative underscores the city's commitment to building an inclusive, welcoming, and culturally enriching environment for Muslim travelers. 

The results were celebrated at an awards ceremony held at Caesar Park Taipei. The event highlighted key milestones of the program, including comprehensive training sessions, onsite counseling, and detailed program briefings. Representatives from Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern embassies in Taiwan and Fazal Bahardeen, CEO and Founder of CrescentRating, attended the ceremony to mark Taipei’s significant achievement in the Muslim tourism sector.

Global Recognition for Taipei’s Muslim-Friendly Tourism Efforts

Taipei City’s efforts have gained international recognition, with notable accolades reinforcing its growing reputation as a Muslim-friendly destination. In 2023, Taipei was awarded "Most Promising Muslim-Friendly City Destination of the Year (non-OIC)" by CrescentRating, a prestigious acknowledgment of the city’s initiatives. Additionally, the 2024 Eid-al-Fitr in Taipei event earned the Gold Award at the U.S.-based MUSE Awards in the Cultural Event category, celebrating Taipei’s dedication to providing meaningful and immersive cultural experiences for Muslim travelers. These initiatives featured stage performances, bustling halal markets, and rich cultural immersion areas designed to engage and delight international visitors.

Upcoming initiatives will focus on further improving accessibility to halal-certified food options, prayer facilities, and Muslim-friendly transportation, ensuring a seamless travel experience for all visitors. TPEDOIT will also work with international partners and local stakeholders to organize cultural events and awareness programs, fostering a deeper understanding of Muslim travelers' needs.
