Japan Halal Expo 2014 - a major halal-themed international expo - will be held in Chiba Prefecture in November, in response to the recent increase in Muslim tourists to Japan. The Halal food expo will be held on two days - on the 26th and 27th of November - at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba with the aim of promoting awareness on Halal food and the latest trends and patterns of the Muslim travel market. Japan-based Muslims at the expo will also be given the opportunity to provide feedback on whether Japan is a Muslim-friendly country.

Japan has seen an increased number of visits from Muslim travellers over the past year due to visa relaxations and further measures implemented by Japan to make the country more Muslim-friendly. The number of Muslim travellers to Japan is expected to reach one million by 2020.
