The World Travel and Tourism Council has revealed an increase in the number of Indonesians travelling to Europe, with over 9 million Indonesian tourists having visited a European destination last year. Industry experts noted that this may be due to the fact that many Indonesian travellers are first-time travellers who seek security when travelling - in terms of both language and culture.
Indonesian travellers spent $8.23 billion in 2014 - an increase of 8.3% from 2013 - according to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council. The amount was a 22% increase from 2012, when spending was around $6.2 billion.
