Crescent Rated Cruise Ships

Cruise ships in this directory are audited by CrescentRating against the CrescentRating Standard for Cruise Ships (CRS-CSH:2026). At sea, a guest cannot go ashore for a meal or a place to pray whenever one is needed, so the audit looks at what the ship itself provides over several days.

The standard covers five areas. For prayer, it looks for prayer rooms for men and women, prayer rugs, and a list of mosques near each port of call. For food and drink, it grades provision from Halal options assured by the ship up to certified Halal throughout, with non-Halal food and alcohol served in a separate area and a list of Halal restaurants at each port. In cabins and facilities, it looks for a shattaf, handheld bidet or jet sprayer in cabin toilets, and a gym or pool that Muslim guests can use with privacy. For entertainment, it records whether the ship has a casino, a nightclub or adult television channels. Finally, it checks that the crew can answer what Muslim guests ask.

Ships are rated on a seven-level scale from CR1 to CR7, and a higher level means more of this provision is in place. The rating gives cruise lines, travel agents and guests the same picture of what is on board before anyone sails.
